October is Here

October 7th,
Dear Families,
What a week we have had.  We had our first DARE lesson with Officer Mellen, and will continue with them each Wednesday in October.  All of the students worked really hard on our first math test.  I will be sending them home early next week.  Kids also worked on Spelling City to check their understanding of this week’s spelling words.  Results of their quiz are in their home folders.
Lighthouse fourth graders will be going to the Flynn Theater on October 17th to enjoy a performance of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.  The permission slips went home yesterday and it would be great if you can send them back early next week if you haven’t already.
This afternoon students got started on setting up their blogs.  We have talked about how the blogs are an aspect of school and therefore are not used for personal postings.  All student blogs are linked to my teacher page.
I will be out a training on Monday afternoon.  This training “Building Resilient Kids” will be attended by multiple staff members and will take place on one Monday per month.  That afternoon students will have their first session of 4 Winds.  Please remind them to be respectful for both our 4 Winds volunteers and their guest teacher.
I hope everyone has been enjoying this beautiful fall weather!
Miss Taylor
