Failure Philosophy

January 30th
Dear Families,
File_000.jpeg

Our class has been working a lot on what it looks like to be a learner this year.  Part of being a learner is of course, making mistakes or failing along the way.  We talk about how when we make a mistake it is simply an opportunity to learn from the outcome. This can apply to a math problem as much as it can a conflict with another person.  It is my goal that students realize that failure is something we grow from.

File_002.jpegWe have discussed failures that many famous people have had in their own lives.  Our focus was on what they would never have accomplished if they had given up when faced with challenges and unsuccessful moments. My goal is to encourage students to be risk takers and not worry about the potential of failing. Please take some time to talk to your child about our discussions!

On another note we hope you can join us this Friday morning (9:00-10:00) for our project sharing.
